Gratitude earns respect which attracts people

When people say thank you to us and genuinely mean it, we feel positive towards that person. If they have gone out of their way to say thank you to us then this is even more the case. They are two small words but can have a really poweful effect.

When it comes to our work whether you are a doctor, teacher, geologist, engineer, manager, or a salesman, we all want to work with people who want to work with us. One way of getting people to work with us is to show gratitude for even the small things that they do.

The chances are showing them gratitude will surprise them. When you think you don't have anything to be grateful for you can start with their time, and if that is a given just show genuine interest in them.

I had a fantastic teacher call Mr Cunningham. He ws very strict but also inspiring and really interested in the lives of his pupils and colleagues. He got respect by showing interest in our lives and saying thank you to those who helped him. So we wanted to be taught by him and earn his respect.

We all have coaches or people we admire and whose advice we trust. When you start a business you want clients to trust you, so you need to attract them. A good place to start would be by reading the Attraction Marketers Manifesto (http://dunraven.marketersmanifesto.com/). Attracting people to do business with you is key since as Frank Rumbauskas says cold calling is a waste of time, and time is always in short supply. This is why developing trust is key.

This trust can come from showing genuine interest in potential clients they will be prepared to listen to what you have to say. By making it clear that you are grateful for their time, they will remember you, and want to work with you.

This applies to their consideration of what you have to offer. If you are selling something and the other party doesn't buy, it might they are just not be in need of what you have to offer at this moment. It doesn't mean to say that they are unwilling to buy in the future. So by using gratitude to thank them for looking at your proposal they are more likely to remember you.

Adopting this mindset will also help you cope with rejection and not take it personally. One thing the other party will remember is that you weren't pushy, and so weren't desperate. By using gratitude you will come across as a professional. They will value your opinions and will show you respect when they next meet you or need what you have to offer. They might even seek you out as you are a professional.

This makes you their equal and shows the power of gratitude.

This is something we can all apply to everyday life, whether it's dealing with neighbours or those that teach our children, or whoever we meet. By being grateful to them for their help or the work they do, when we wish to tell them something good or bad; they'll respect our opinion and listen .

By knowing that you are interested in, and appreciate others, people will warm to you and talk to others about you in a positive manner. In business terms this can produce positive word of mouth marketing or can assist with viral marketing; as the other party will be happy to give you a good reference.

For example even when people don't give me an order for Kleeneze products, www.mykleeneze.com/51466241, I like to let them know that I am grateful for them reading the catalogue by leaving a slip to say so. Often I get an order next time round.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and found it useful. Thank you for taking the time to look at it.
