Fantastic fresh air
It is great when you meet up with friends in a country park, for a walk. There is something really envigorating about going for a walk with kids and dogs. When you are accompanied by friends it can be a fabulous time to really catch up. We all know that when we meet friends at a party or some other social gathering it can be really difficult to find out what is really going on in their lives.
Meeting in enclosed spaces with friends who also have kids can be great but give you little chance to really talk. Walking with them on the other hand, while the kids run around and tire themselves out is good for you, your friendship and the kids. the conversation is a lot less broken and so you find out more about their recent lives.
When you are wound up by situations, or family, talking about it as you walk about can be the best way to unwind. When you try and do this in a pub it can be disjointed or hard to hear what the other is saying. So you end up not really saying what you want to say.
We meet up with friends at Mugdock Country Park yesterday and the kids had a ball whilst we really talked and properly caught up. Their dog and mine really enjoyed running around together with the result that everyone slept really well last night.
On top of that the best bit about going somewhere like that to meet up with friends is; it is free. The kids can explore or go at their own pace and see Swans and ducks and horses whilst you talk and walk.
It is days like that that really make you grateful for the small things in life. Living in Scotland you are never far from stunning countryside, and places like Mugdock make it accessible to all ages.
