Grateful for Dad
In todays society there is still quite a lot of emphasis on the role of Mums' who do a fabulous job and can multi task in better ways than me. Yet Dads play a growing role in the lives of their children. Speaking from experience I am a Daddy Day Care father, and like a lot of people this is not necessarily out of choice.
Apparently 1 in 7 Dads in the UK are in this position. So it is important to have more services and understanding from professionals like doctors, nurses, midwives and teachers. By this I mean as discussed on the radio yesterday, not necessarily wanting to run things past the Mother before telling the Dad. I am lucky where I live thsi is not the case, but I believe it is for some.
When you get married it is a partnership and both partners have a responsibility when they bring new people into this world. You want to make sure you get it right first time. If you are thinking about getting married, or know someone who is they might find this interesting. It is a free ebook called Tying the Knot once
It is important to be grateful for what Dads do, and what your Dads' have done for you. Even though they might be from a different generation and finding it hard to come to terms with what their children are having to do now. Be grateful for them being there and involved in some way in the life of you and your family.
As Mike and the Mechanics said in the song The Living Years, if you don't say so now you'll wish you had when they have gone.
I helped start a support group for Bliss and it was though to be unusual that a Dad was involved. Why?
When parents are going through the experience of having a child in Neo Natal the Dads' need to support the Mums' and need support of their parents. It is a hard time and can be for everyone concerned. Any support either parent can get is worth it.
So whether the support comes from your Dad, or your father-in-law, be grateful for it. Thank you for reading this and I hope you enjoy the book.
