Viewing things from others point of view

As Harper Lee said in To Killing a Mocking Bird it is always best to view confrontation as if we were in the other persons shoes.

It is always easy to think we are always right, but Robert Burns put it brilliantly.

"O wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us!
It wad frae monie a blunder free us,
An' foolish notion:
What airs in dress an' gait wad lea'e us,
An' ev'n devotion!"

By doing this we stop being arrogant which can put people off.

After all it is easier to attract people to us, and our business, or point of view if we show interest in them first.

On this anniversary of Robert Burns' birth, it is good to remind ourselves of how such a humble man, who never knew how famous he would become, wrote words that are central to our lives today.

As can be seen from his collection of poetry there are so many works that touch on gratitude and give us guidance of how to live our lives.

Have a great Burns night!
