I love CRM
The thing that I love about CRM, or Customer Relationship Management is the returning £.
The more you look after your customers the more they'll come back to you and make you more money. CRM is a two way street, customers show their gratitude and appreciation by coming back and spending with you. The more they come the more you can get to know them, what they want and what is happening in their lives. So you are better able to anticipate what they are going to need, which is what marketing is all about.
This is why customers come back to your business rather than the competition because you better understood their needs. You might not be the cheapest but as John Ruskin said the people who buy by price alone will fall victim to someone who makes something worse. So it is worth investing in developing relationships with customer.
When I was in sales I used to give a packet of Tic Tacs to everyone I had an appointment with, and their receptionist, as a way of saying thank you for their time. It meant that I wasn't forgotten and more importantly got seen and heard next time I called.
As another example, we recently got a delivery from Sainsburys' and the driver was brilliant. She struck up a relationship straight away, was really helpful and efficient. So much so that when she left I phoned the store to say how good she was. We will probably shop with them again because of the great service. So we will be a returning pound.
A business that a lot of us use that is built on the principle of good customer relationship; is Ebay. The better you look after your customers the better the feedback they will give you. This in turn makes you more attractive to future buyers.
Now do you see why I love CRM.
