Gratitude for those we take for granted

I have recently started a job as a supervisor for Spar. I am learning the hard way, which makes me nervous, but am quite enjoying it. It is probably not what I intended doing but it works well round the childcare committments I have. It has made me think of all the people who work in shops, and other places, that we use every day and take for granted. We all like to know there is a newsagent in our town or village, but don't think of the people who work there. When I was working in the construction industry meeting professionals everyday, I felt I was a professional as a consultant. I was earning a salary that was more than I am on now, but even if I earned the same now and then had to pay for petrol and childcare. It would not give me the same amount in my pocket as it looks like I might get with the role I have now. People in roles like a shop assistants might feel they aren't as fortune as someone driving a flashy car, or living in a 5 bedroom house with designer clothes; but they might actually be happier because they think positive.
There are people in roles like these and others like nurses, ambulance drivers, paramedics, and so on that we take for granted. We need to be grateful for what they do; because they might be on less money, but provide a service we all need. After all money isn't everything, and just because you earn more than someone doesn't make you better them.
